Graffiti – Art or Eyesore?

PeelTec Available in Crown Decorating Centres!

It’s been the longstanding question and debate. Is graffiti a form of art or blatant vandalism?

“The two words ‘graffiti‘ and ‘art‘ should never be put together” said the art critic Brian Sewell. And then on the other hand we have, “Graffiti is literally the writing on the wall — the voice of those who cannot find any other way to publish their thoughts anonymously”  stated Hugh O’Donnell, a College of Fine Arts Professor of Painting.

Is it simply an act of vandalism and sign of neighbourhood decline? Or is Graffiti a way of capturing the public’s attention with an image and get them to interact with the subject and read more into it.

We are now seeing more graffiti images thanking the NHS, and some other spurges of graffiti around the recent global protests. In this instance, government buildings and historic monuments were the canvas for this voice, with some negative views on Graffiti.

Whether you are a fan or not, as like with all art, there are some good artists and some not so good.  Some graffiti artists will turn decaying walls or streets into lively colourful wall murals, or some have simply scrawled bubble like writing making the object unattractive.

Also due to weather conditions, even the most appealing art will in time deteriorate and will need to be either replaced or removed. Now at a time when public buildings, schools and hospitals prepare for the embrace of the public, a spring clean and deep clean will take place.

PeelTec, from the creators of CT1, have created a revolutionary product that will remove not only all paints and coatings without damaging the base material or YOU, it is also the best Graffiti remover on the market. Tested on almost every surface, this unbelievable product can remove Graffiti safely and quickly.

Often these works of “Art” are extremely difficult to remove when the time comes, rendering it impossible in some instances.

The process of removing Graffiti is difficult and time consuming with many conventional products being tough on your skin and can be hazardous. CT1, which is the UK’s Number 1 Sealant and Adhesive, seen that there was a huge gap in the market for an effective paint remover and graffiti remover. Since the EU banned the hazardous compound Methyl Chloride, many products were now not as effective.

PeelTec which has radically changed the painting and decorating industry, is now being used by Facility Managers, the Department of Transport, Health and Education to safely remove these works of “art” that are not supposed to be there. 100% Methyl Chloride free, its safe, fast and easy to use.

You can get you handy can of PeelTec from Crown Decorating Centres, Travis Perkins and some independent stores.

The debate will always be there, is graffiti art or vandalism? Just last week, a collection of works by British Graffiti Artist Banksy sold for more than £400,000. However, not everyone is a Banksy!  The estimated cost to the UK for cleaning up graffiti is over £1 billion. London Underground alone believes it costs up to £10m a year to replace all the glass etched with graffiti and £2.5m to clean up other forms of graffiti.
